It is the official start of summer, of a new season. It is also the longest day of the year, which marks the return of light after a period of darkness. It is the Festival of the Sun.

It is said that Lord Shiva has started transmitting its teachings as a guru on this day.

And according to what is written in the Vedas – the ancient Indian scriptures – worship the sun and the light of immortality symbols brings prosperity and health to the body and mind.

Just to honor the sun and the light, in the ‘ International Yoga Day school Bali Yoga in collaboration with T -annual Milan invite everyone to share and practice yoga right from the first light of dawn until sunset, in a dynamic flow that culminates with 108 Greetings to the Sun.

Because 108 Greetings to the Sun

In the yoga tradition the Sun Salutation – which means Surya Namaskar sun salutation – is a dynamic sequence of asanas (postures) beneficial for the body and mind.
Just praticarne d IECI sun salutations every morning to allow the body to let go and to eliminate stress and tension, to tone your joints, muscles and internal organs, to improve posture, flexibility and balance, to stimulate cardio vascular system, oxygenate the blood and strengthen the heart. But when you dive in the 108 repetitions that full transformation occurs. Even more so if the practice is carried out in the greater cosmic regeneration day, the Summer Solstice.

108 is a sacred number for both Hindus and in practice yoga. Malas – Tibetan prayer beads – consist of 108 beads, just like those Christians. The distance of the sun and moon from the earth is 108 times their diameter. 108 are the Pitha – sacred centers – scattered in India. And 108 are also the qualities of the Buddha. For this, the day of the Sun Festival tradition has it that you offer to Mother Earth and the world 108 Greetings to the Sun, anticipated or followed by the singing of Mantra 108.

Practicing Surya Namaskara at the summer solstice is considered auspicious for the individual, which can connect with the sun and its rays drawn from the energy you need to develop new power.

The most rigorous yogic tradition is expected that the daily morning practice are performed 108 repetitions of the sequence of Surya Namaskara. And for this practice it would be wise for everyone. The only obstacle to its fulfillment is the mind, which blocks the normal flow of energy and then stops the body.

The appointment with Bali Yoga at the Milan Triennale

“Sharing the practice yoga, especially the 108 Greetings to the Sun, with the group is the very strong experience. I like to call it a practice of harmonious and vibrant union between man and nature, between souls, different styles and cultures, between outer and inner world, which leads to experimentation with the “if” that can illuminate and blend gracefully with all that surrounds. A unique transformation, in which the energy of the group makes it move the body through the greetings to the sun. ” So Simona Tarabini, teacher and owner of Bali Yoga, that 21 will conduct special free yoga classes in the Triennale garden.

“The appointment to celebrate the summer solstice begins at dawn with an awakening of the body dynamic flow to arrive at night with the practice of 108 Sun Salutations. To prepare to immerse ourselves with even more unity in music flow of Yoga Rave Party in the evening and close with the group meditation just before midnight. ” Simona concludes.
