Headache – a cause or a consequence?

You’d be surprised, but only 10-20% of the cause of headache is the head itself. In other cases, the pain in the head region there because of pathological processes in other organs and body systems.

The most common cause of headache doctors call intoxication of the organism, which may be related to poisoning low-quality food, an active breeding virus (remember how a headache for the flu), constipation, gastritis and other

abnormalities of the gastrointestinal tract and urogenital system.

The second most common cause of headache is the disease of the cervical spine (low back pain) or overvoltage of the neck muscles (with the incorrect position of the head during operation or sleep).

The third reason – violation autonomic tone vessels that occurs on background of hypertension, hormonal disorders, liver pathology. As a result of vascular disease disturbed venous outflow of blood from the head, which increases intracranial pressure and cause pain.

How to determine the cause?

Depending on the localization of the headache can be the cause of its occurrence, using the Chinese meridian system.

1.If the pain is localized in the frontal part of the head, then the cause must be sought in the pathology of the gastrointestinal tract.

2.If the pain is centered in the occipital region, the problem is most likely in one of the parts of the spine, which is overfished artery, preventing normal Blood Tap. Similar symptoms and cause atherosclerotic changes in the cardiovascular system, which provoke high blood pressure.

3.If the pain in the temporal region and the ear, then most likely the problem lies in the urogenital system.

4.If you experience pain in the eye (presses for the eye sockets and the eyebrows), it can be assumed that the body hints at the pathology of the respiratory system associated with venous stasis in the maxillary sinuses or on Eye Strain (eyeball and blood vessels of the eye).

5.If half a head aches and pain while moving in the frontal part, the occipital, if the reason lies in vascular pathologies which doctors call vegetative dystonia.

6.If a headache in one half of the head, pain, dull and constant, then the cause must be sought within the skull.

However, this is only a guideline. More accurately determine the cause of the headache will help physician or neurologist. Depending on the complaints he would appoint a series of analyzes on the basis of which it will be possible to make a diagnosis. Most often, when complaints of headache appoint a common blood test (to determine its density), doplerografii cervical spine (to determine the status of blood vessels), MRI of the head (for suspected tumor) or ultrasound of the internal organs (when there is suspicion of a problem).

What to do?

If the headache is not of a chronic nature, and repeated from time to time in connection with the stress, noise or other annoyances, then you can try to get rid of it without going to the doctor. For this:

Drink tablet. Do not torture yourself in vain, and immediately drink analgesic tablet . These drugs will remove spasm and diluting action on the blood, thereby facilitating the outflow of blood and reduction of intracranial pressure. The tablet quickly acted important to take a horizontal position, and rest in peace at least 30-40 minutes.

Drink plenty of fluids. The increased density of blood impairs blood circulation and promotes venous stasis. That is why it is important to monitor the water balance of the body, trying to drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Well it copes with the task and fruit teas (currant, raspberry), which contains vitamin C, which strengthens the walls of blood vessels.

Make massage. If the headache you are experiencing discomfort in the occipital region and neck, then you can try to alleviate his condition with the help of massage of the head and neck area. Throw both hands behind your neck, massage your finger muscles of the neck, shoulders, walk along the spine, as you can reach. Climb up to the head, massage your fingers spread wide as if you wash it with shampoo. Massage your temples with his fingers (circular motion), then rub the forehead, close your eyes, blink. Go back to the neck, rub the skin of the neck area again and have a good massage the muscles. This simple massage can help relieve the spasm from overworked muscles and improve blood flow to the head.

Drink tea or coffee. Many people think that caffeine and headache incompatible. This is true when it comes to high blood pressure. If your blood pressure is normal, then a cup of strong tea or coffee (sweet) will help to quickly cope with a headache (caffeine has on blood vessels expanding action resulting in venous congestion is removed and the pain goes away).
